Fry Brothers’ Charity provides affordable almshouse accommodation in Portesham for people with a background in agriculture, horticulture or rural work.

Accommodation

• Two-bedroom bungalow in Portesham village.
• Peaceful village setting in West Dorset.
• Affordable accommodation within a small and supportive almshouse community.
• A weekly maintenance contribution is payable.

Eligibility in accordance with the Charity Commission Scheme applicants should be

• Persons in need
• Persons who are, or have been, inhabitants of Portesham and the neighbourhood thereof

• Previously worked in agriculture, horticulture or a rural industry.

Applications are considered by the Trustees in accordance with the Charity’s eligibility and allocation criteria. Where there is more than one suitable applicant, housing need, local connection and relevant employment background will all be taken into account.

Anyone wishing to be considered should contact the Secretary for an application form. Existing applicants on the waiting list may also be asked to complete an up-to-date application so that all applicants can be considered on the same basis.
